Course Description:

Dr. Azeem Sheikh will review the essentials of Platelet Rich Fibrin, what you really need to know about platelet derived growth factors, along with venipuncture tips and techniques. A step-by-step approach will be covered on how PRF can significantly aid in bone grafting techniques, along with its amazing benefit with soft tissue healing. In addition, the essential armamentarium required to perform this effectively in your practice will be reviewed. All members will then perform venipuncture on each other. Dr. Azeem Sheikh is the founder of the Ontario Dental Implant Network (ODIN), driven by his dedication to sharing his extensive clinical knowledge and business insights. Initially launched in 2015 as the Halton-Peel Implant Study Club, it evolved into ODIN in 2016, growing into a collaborative environment where dentists can learn, exchange ideas, and develop professionally. Dr. Sheikh’s vision is to create a supportive, non-judgmental space for dentists to refine their clinical skills and business strategies, with a mission to help as many practitioners as possible enhance their careers and make a meaningful impact on their patients’ lives.

Dr. Sheikh earned his DDS from the University of Western Ontario in 2003 and has been practicing in the Greater Toronto Area for over 20 years. At Brampton Dental Arts, his general practice focuses on dental implant and periodontal surgeries, specializing in complex cases involving areas with limited bone and significant defects. His expertise encompasses immediate implants, from single-tooth placements to full-arch therapies, including immediate load procedures. Having placed over 6,000 immediate dental implants, Dr. Sheikh brings a wealth of experience to his field.

His advanced training includes implant training at the University of Toronto in 2005, followed by specialized training at the Toronto Implant Institute in hard and soft tissue grafting for teeth and implant site development. Additionally, Dr. Sheikh has received SYFAC training in A-PRF™ and I-PRF™ phlebotomy and injections. As the Course Director and Clinical Instructor for the Hiossen Master Implant Training Program, he has lectured on topics such as Guided Bone Regeneration, Implant Locator Overdenture, Immediate Molar Implants, and Sinus Lifting, along with practice efficiency and business growth.

Dr. Ela Behrooz (Prosthodontist) will review anterior implant therapy as it relates to both immediate and delayed approaches. Treatment planning with a focus on esthetics will be covered. From surgical planning, to ideal implant placement in the optimal position, hard and soft tissue grafting, and then shaping the tissues for an ideal esthetic result will be covered in both approaches.

Dr. Ela Behrooz, DDS, MBA, Prosthodontist

Dr. Ela Behrooz earned her first Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree in Tehran, Iran. After immigrating to Canada, she completed a second DDS at the University of Toronto, graduating with honours in 2016. She also holds an MBA from the Eric Sprott School of Business at Carleton University.

Following her dental education, Dr. Behrooz completed the Graduate Prosthodontics Program at the University of Toronto. Throughout her academic career, she has received numerous accolades, including Best Thesis of the Year, Highest Academic Achievement, and Highest Overall Achievement in Preventive Dentistry.

A passionate educator and public speaker, Dr. Behrooz lectures at dental conferences and study clubs globally. She serves on the Program Advisory Board at George Brown College and is Associate Editor for the Young Dentist Dental Journal, contributing extensively to dental literature.

She is a member of the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario, the Ontario Dental Association, and the American College of Prosthodontists.

Dr. Behrooz is also committed to humanitarian work. She has participated in three outreach missions to rural Uganda and currently serves as Chief of Clinical Operations for the Build Your Smile Dental Foundation. She co-founded the Foundation’s local initiative providing dental care to Toronto women affected by homelessness and poverty.

Kevin Ehlers is a highly experienced dental technologist with over 25 years in the industry, currently serving as Assistant Lab Manager at Durban Dental Laboratory. Known for his precision, leadership, and commitment to evolving with technology, Kevin plays a key role in managing complex cases and overseeing the lab’s digital and implant-driven workflows.

His expertise spans crown and bridge restorations, full-arch rehabilitations, and advanced bar designs, with a strong foundation in both analogue techniques and modern CAD/CAM systems like Exocad. Dr. Hassan Mostafa, DDS

Born and raised in London, Ontario, Dr. Hassan Mostafa is the owner of Aria Dental and Implant Centre—a 10-operatory, multidisciplinary group practice. Inspired by his physician father and engineering professor mother, he found dentistry to be the perfect fusion of both fields.

Dr. Mostafa earned his BSc in Biochemistry from Western University and his DDS from the University of Detroit Mercy in 2000. He gained valuable experience at Dove Dental Centres under the mentorship of the late Dr. Rick Merritt before establishing his own practice in 2004. Today, he proudly serves over 3,000 patients in the West London community.

A strong believer in lifelong learning, Dr. Mostafa pursues advanced continuing education with a special interest in digital implantology and CAD/CAM technology. He has been placing and restoring implants for 18 years and is a Fellowship Candidate with the American Academy of Implant Dentistry.

Dedicated to mentorship, he supports associate dentists and aspiring dental students, while also serving as a board director for local educational and charitable organizations, including King’s University College and the Nazem Kadri Foundation.

Dr. Sherghin, DDS, MBA, MSc

With over a decade of experience, Dr. Sherghin is a recognized leader in dentistry, celebrated for his clinical excellence, compassionate care, and dedication to innovation.

He began his academic journey with a BSc from the University of Windsor in 2007, followed by a DDS from the University of Detroit Mercy in 2011. Committed to lifelong learning, he earned an MBA from Ivey Business School (2021) and is completing dual MSc degrees in Esthetic Dentistry (Goethe University, Frankfurt) and Periodontology and Implantology (Medical University of Vienna).

Dr. Sherghin has completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency in Michigan and holds certifications in IV sedation, ACLS, CT scanning, and Botox. He has received multiple awards, including the Golden Key Honorary Society Award and Peak Emerging Leader in Canada, and is a member in good standing with the RCDSO, as well as numerous professional associations including the CDA, AACD, and the American and European Academies of Osseointegration.

His global training includes implantology in Brazil and Mexico, bone grafting and sinus lifts in the U.S., Germany, and Hungary, and cosmetic rehabilitation workshops in Germany and Italy—bringing a rich international perspective to his practice.

Dr. Sherghin’s patient-focused philosophy prioritizes comfort and communication. He specializes in sedation dentistry to ease patient anxiety and creates personalized treatment plans to meet individual needs. His warm approach and advanced skill set ensure an exceptional patient experience.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Sherghin enjoys traveling, golfing, fishing, MMA, and pickleball. A proud husband and father of two, he credits his family and dedicated team as the foundation of his success. Dr. Steve Chang

Dr. Steve Chang is a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada and a Board-Certified Specialist in Prosthodontics. He is also a proud member of the Canadian Dental Association, the Ontario Dental Association, and the Association of Prosthodontists of Canada. He maintains a private practice limited to Prosthodontics at M Prosthodontics in Mississauga, Ontario and is also an instructor at the University of Toronto Graduate School of Prosthodontics.

Dr. Chang’s extensive dental education began at the University of Western Ontario Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry, where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. He went on to study at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts, where he obtained a Master of Science degree in the areas of Craniofacial Pain and Dental Sleep Medicine. Subsequently, Dr. Chang went on to study at Goethe University in Frankfurt, Germany, where he obtained his second Master of Science degree in the area of Oral Implantology. Dr. Chang then completed his third Master of Science degree and specialty certification in Prosthodontics from the University of Toronto, Faculty of Dentistry. His research included studies in dental occlusion, digital technology in optimal implant placement, and peri-implant disease.

Dr. Chang has extensive training in the placement and restoration of dental implants and maintains a clinical focus on the prosthodontic rehabilitation of the completely edentulous patient supported by dental implants. When not practicing dentistry, Dr. Chang spends time with his wife and three daughters.

Course Description:

Dr. Sherif Said (Periodontist) will review how best to manage the soft tissue around both teeth and implants in order to achieve long term success. A focus on case selection and execution of various techniques will be discussed. Video demonstration will help to solidify the concepts learnt.

Dr. Shereif Zareif Tawfik (known as Dr. Said)

Dr. Tawfik received his dental training from MSA University in Cairo, Egypt. He completed a residency there and subsequently worked in the department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. During this time, he also worked at his father’s Periodontal Prosthesis Practice.

In 2013, Dr. Tawfik completed his Periodontics Fellowship Program at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Following this, he completed a Certificate in Advanced Graduate Studies in Periodontology and a Masters of Science in Dentistry at Boston University. His training focused on growth factors and peri-implant tissue development.

Dr. Tawfik maintains a Clinical Assistant Professor position in the post-doctoral Periodontology Department at Boston University. He is both a Diplomat of the American Board of Periodontology and a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada.

Dr. Tawfik lectures internationally, has published numerous refereed articles and ‘book chapters’ on the topic of anterior implant esthetics with a strong focus on minimally invasive and cosmetic regenerative procedures.

Dr. Tawfik enjoys spending time with his family and friends, playing squash and travelling to different beach destinations where he can practice his wakeboarding skills.
